Peace deal brings hope to Middle East border – 28 November 2024
A new ceasefire deal (peace agreement) between Israel and Lebanon’s Hezbollah group has brought fighting to a halt along their shared border.
US President Joe Biden announced the deal, as the US and France were involved in forming the agreement.
Both Israel and Hezbollah have agreed to move their forces away from the border area.
Lebanese army soldiers will take control of the region, while Israeli troops will slowly leave over the next two months.
Tens of thousands of people from both countries who had to leave their homes because of the fighting now hope they can return safely, although they’ve been asked to wait until the situation is more stable.
