The nominees for the MTV Movie Awards have been announced this week.

Hoping to pick up a gong on the big night is Emma Watson. She's been nominated for Best Female Performance for her role in The Perks of Being a Wallflower.

Emma is nominated in the category alongside Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Lawrence, Rebel Wilson and Mila Kunis. 

Popular actress Jennifer Lawrence (pictured) has received some of the most nominations this year with five nods. Her movie Silver Linings Playbook has proved a big hit. 

Fighting it out for the Best Male Performance are her co-star Bradley Cooper, Ben Affleck, Daniel Day-Lewis, Jamie Foxx and Channing Tatum. 

The Movie of the Year will be a tough one, with several big blockbusters in the running. Among those are action films The Avengers and The Dark Knight Rises. 

The MTV Movie Awards also like to have some more unusual categories. These include Best Kiss, Best Villain and Best Musical Moment. 

The ceremony takes place on 14 April.
